Julius Berger is an elite construction company in Nigeria offering different services which include planning, design, engineering, operation, and maintenance of buildings. The company was established in the hearts of Lagos in the year 1970 and has worked with several clients since then, providing them with excellent and unrivaled services. 

History

In 1970, the company started off with a project to repair the Onitsha Bridge in just seven weeks. The following year, Julius Berger was awarded its first major project outside Lagos where it constructed a 500m long and 25m high Laminga Dam with spillway systems, a water treatment plant, and a 48km pipeline distribution network. 

Fast forward to 1973, Julius Berger got its first industrial contract which included working a plant facility and ancillary buildings, and in 1974, the Falomo bridge was reconstructed. Consistently, for more than 50 years, the company has solidified the standard for excellence, creativity, and effectiveness within Nigeria's construction industry.

  • Julius Berger commissioned the 28km Itokin-Epe road - 1972

  • JB won a contract award for the vast Lagos inner ring road system - in 1975

  • Jebba Road commissioned - 1976

  • Tin Can Island Port commissioned just 18 months after the project’s inception - 1977

  • Started the construction on the Delta Steel plant - 1978

  •  Warri port was completed - in 1979

  • Began works on the infrastructure of the new capital, Abuja - 1980

  • Contract award for the Sapele Port comprising six 200 m berths - 1980

  • Warri bypass commissioned - 1981

  • Award of the Pankshin Dam and water treatment plan in Plateau State - 1981

  • Work on Abuja’s Central Area, Phase I commenced - 1983

  • Commissioned the Jos Steel Rolling Mill - 1983

  • Commissioned the Niger River Road Bridge - 1985

  • Dualization of Otta - Abeokuta Road in Ogun - 2000

  • Julius Berger commissioned a new Head office building in Abuja - 2001

For more than 50 years, the company has constructed over 800 buildings, created 20+ industrial facilities, and managed about 130 infrastructure projects.  

Revenue

Julius Berger shared its 2022 audited full-year results and the 1st of April, 2023 and it revealed a pretax profit of NGN15.54 billion which translates to a 9.60% increase from the NGN14.18 billion recorded in 2021.
