Amazon Nigeria

In 2023, the world's largest online retailer, Amazon, will launch operations in Nigeria as part of a plan to expand to five more nations in Africa, South America, and Europe. The e-commerce behemoth, which already has operations in 20 countries, will begin doing business in Belgium, Chile, Colombia, Nigeria, and South Africa in April 2023. The e-commerce giant will develop a market place with access to Fulfillment by Amazon in each of the five countries. Although Belgium will be the first country to offer Amazon's prime membership program. Amazon's arrival into Nigeria's e-commerce market will increase competition in the area already dominated by Jumia, Konga, and Jiji. Amazon has a relatively weak footprint in emerging markets like South America and Africa, while having a presence in 20 nations with strong economies.

Microsoft Nigeria

In light of its market statement from 2019, Microsoft Corporation has lately opened its African Development Center in Lagos, Nigeria. The facility is one of two development centers in Africa that Microsoft will invest US$100 million in, the other being in Nairobi. The facility, which is valued at $100 million, will be Microsoft's primary engineering hub in Ikoyi, Lagos, Nigeria. Here, top-tier African talent can develop solutions with both regional and global effect. Additionally, it serves as a hub for the planned delivery of software engineering solutions to Africa.

  • Build deep relationships with senior technical individuals within customers to enable them to be cloud advocates.

  • Hire, on-board, train, and develop new Solutions Architects and Solutions Architect managers. First and foremost, you need to be an exceptional builder of great people

  • We are looking for a seasoned Corporate Social Responsibility or Philanthropies professional who will manage the local implementation of Microsoft Philanthropies programs in MEA, reporting to the GM and International Community Engagement Lead.

Responsibilities

This involves co-designing and executing skills programs with nonprofit partners, governments, and other stakeholders to address complex local, regional, national, and global community and civic engagement needs in alignment with Microsoft’s corporate social responsibility standards.
  • Actively create opportunities for partnership, collaboration, and engagement with external partners, including nonprofits, IGOs, governments and others in the private sector – develops and influence partnerships to advance Skills for Jobs in MEA. Represents Microsoft externally and helps serve as spokesperson for Microsoft Philanthropies across the region.
  • Employee Giving – land employee giving campaigns in the region and local markets, supporting the execution of the global campaigns.
  • Disaster Response – Represent Microsoft Philanthropies in assessing regional disaster response; work closely with the affected country/area to support the specific plan and execution.

Qualifications

  • 10+ years of experience project managing social impact initiatives, ideally for multi-year projects spanning large geographic regions in a CSR, Government Affairs or Nonprofit leadership role, preferably on workforce related issues.
  • Experience partnering with nonprofits, IGOs, governments and others in the private sector.
  • Experience living or working in MEA is highly preferred.
