Contrary to the information flying around which may also mislead candidates, the Joint Admission Matriculation Board has debunked stories of increased examination fees.

According to the education board, the 2024 JAMB form remains at N3,500 per head. This information was disclosed in a bulletin published by JAMB saying "The attention of the Joint TAdmissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) has been drawn to several publications in recent times insinuating that the Board has increased its examination registration fee.''

"This is far from the truth as the cost of obtaining the Board’s UTME application documents remains N3,500, which has been the cost of its application documents since it was brought down from N5,000 in 2018. Therefore, the Board wishes to state that the cost of application document price has not been increased despite the prevailing economic reality in the country which has also affected the cost of the Board’s operations.”

The board then went ahead to clarify that only the mock and UTME examination fees were increased as they now cost N1500 each. While it is important to pay the examination fee to be admitted into the hall on the day of the examination, the mock fee is optional. Also, to register at the cafe, you would have to pay N700 to whoever is registering you. Simply put;

  • UTME form - N3500

  • Registration fee - N700

  • Examination fee - 1500

  • Mock (optional) - 1500

This gives a total of N13,500 if you are writing the mock exam and N12,500 if you are not. The essence of writing the mock examination is to help you have a feel of what is to come, more like a preparation strategy, nothing more. It doesn't have anything to do with your registration.

Following information shared by the board, the UTME examination registration will kick off from 15th January 2024 till 26th February 2024. Direct entry applications will run from 28th February to 28th March 2024. The Mock Examination will hold on the 7th of March, 2024. Candidates can start printing their examination slips on April 10th, 2024 before the UTME exam finally holds from 19th April to 29th, April 2024.
