Recently, a handful of organizations have pivoted towards the remote work style, affording their employees the luxury to attend to work from their comfort zone. While this is the case with some workers, it is a different ball game for others. There are still companies who would have their employees come to the office everyday or on some days of the week. If you work in a city like Lagos, where the traffic jams are brutal and it's a complete hassle to get to work daily, you would badly want to have only remote jobs.
Apart from working in Lagos, you can also work in any city and want to work from home because of how much convenience and balance it brings to your professional life. If we were to ask 5 people to pick between showing up at the office and working from home, chances are the five of them would want the latter option.
See Why People Want to Work from Home
For many people, it's not just about "staying home" to work. There are other things in it for them that would pass as benefits of working from home. We discussed them, read on.
You can create a convenient Time-table for yourself
Unlike leaving home early to get to the office everyday, you don't have to leave your bed unless you really want to. Instead, create a timetable that allows you to achieve your daily goals and be productive. This timetable can include scheduling break times, allotting time to each task, working on your meals, and having enough time to reflect on the work you have done. If you want, you can also set a specific wake-up time, stop at the gym, check your to-do list, eat out for lunch, and take a quick nap in between work. Yes, that's how stuff you can get going for yourself because you have a remote job.
Zero burnout!
Working from home gives you a little more autonomy and you can draw the lines between office work and your home chores. If you have to go to the office, you get to work for longer hours and not have enough breaks; this can be overwhelming and cause you to burn out. It is very different when you work from home because the moment you are starting to get tired, you can take a break from work.
Also, being around the office environment puts a lot of pressure on you to be productive because you are either seeing your colleague do much more or your boss move around. It doesn't happen this way when you work from home, instead, you are more relaxed, causing you to be productive.
You can save more
The price of fuel has gone much higher recently and cab/bus drivers have followed suit, hiking transport fares. While this can affect personal budgets, leading to reduced disposable income, you don't have to experience all of these when you work from home. Also, working remotely annuls the need for daily commuting which does not only save you the cost of fuel or transport fare but also reduces wear and tear in your vehicle. Instead of spending so much on buying fuel, paying some transport fare, or fixing your vehicle, you can redirect the funds to a more profitable investment.

You can transit to being a Digital Nomad
If you work from home, then, that's a nudge to become a digital nomad. You don't have to be home all the time if you have a good internet connection. This work style allows you to move your job on the road while having the time of your life. Since you have enough control over where and how you work, go all out, check out affordable countries, and indulge yourself. Enjoy the scenery, food, and culture, and meet new people while at it. Staying back home every day can come off as boring and monotonous, so, you may want to stop sticking with the norm.

Want to create your office to your taste? You can!
Many workers are creative and have an idea of what they want their office to look like. While you may not get the freedom to do this in an office that doesn't entirely belong to you, when you work from home, you can personalize and design your office to your taste and boost your productivity. If you are looking to enhance your creativity and enhance your focus, customize your home office to what you think should work for you. You could use plants, hang motivational quotes, have a sticker board that reminds you of the tasks you have at hand, or any other material that makes your office look pleasing to you.
Increased efficiency and productivity
Time and time again, research has proven that people get more work done when they work from home. This stems from the fact that there are fewer people around to cause distractions, and workers can think faster and even differently. Without interruptions and social interactions, workers can concentrate, and get done with all of their tasks for the day. Also, because they don't have to go through the stress of getting to the office, they channel the energy towards doing an excellent job and delivering projects just in time.
In conclusion
Working from home is top-tier and it's the hack you need to be productive and motivated. While some people will prefer to work from the office, a lot of people believe that working from home is the best bet for them. However, if you work from home, you need to be disciplined enough even as you milk all of the benefits that come with it.
