The technology industry continues to downsize as Salesforce inc., an American cloud-based software company also joins the bandwagon to eliminate over 700 jobs.
As reported by the Wall Street Journal (WSJ), the number of workers fired only represents 1% of the global workforce at Salesforce. The company which was founded some 24 years ago and currently has about 80,000 employees has offered several customer management services including sales cloud, service cloud, Marketing cloud, commerce cloud, and some other software including Slack.
This job cut is happening just after eBay decided to fire a thousand workers from its workforce. One would have thought that Salesforce is only recently firing workers but a job cut had just been done the previous year, letting go of about 10% of its employees.
This action from Salesforce positively impacted the company's earnings, resulting in increased revenue in the second and third quarters, prompting an upward revision of its annual profit forecast. Despite the earlier job cuts, Salesforce announced plans in September to hire over 3,000 employees to enhance profit margins.
With the look of things, after Salesforce has fired the intended number of people, it will start hiring new people and according to report, there are already a thousand job openings at the company for individuals looking for a job. This move suggests that the workforce adjustments made might be part of a regular routine for fine-tuning the company's staffing levels.
While some people are losing their jobs, there are positions available for some other persons.
