Meta has reportedly fired about 60 workers holding technical program managerial positions within the Instagram division
According to the reports gathered, the employees in question have been given 2-months for other positions within the organization after which they might have to eventually lose their jobs if they are unable to find a new position.
Rachel Windzberg, a former Instagram staff member, mentioned on LinkedIn that certain employees might be required to undergo a "re-interview" for an alternative program manager position. She has also created a video that can help the affected staff member navigate the situation.
According to Information from solid sources, Instagram has informed its employees about restructuring product teams. The decision involves establishing three distinct focus areas for the team dedicated to assisting users in creating and sharing content on the platform: Creation, Creators, and Friend Sharing. These adjustments indicate that Instagram will concentrate more on providing support to creators who are likely to enhance teen engagement on the platform.
Instagram says that just as it has called 2023 its "Year of Efficiency," it continues with the same energy in 2024, focusing on making things right in the organization.
Instagram is just a division of Meta which reportedly is still hiring. However, periodic adjustments to the management structure of a large company such as Meta can signify that inefficiency is not tolerated.
With over 2.4 billion active monthly users, this has only shown how much hard work the employees at Instagram have done over the years. So, it is quite unquestionable that the management is giving the affected workers 2 weeks to sort themselves out.
"We have not even been in 2024 a lot, yet we have seen a lot of layoffs - From Amazon, Microsoft, Google, Duolingo, and a lot more and this means that continuously, more and more techies get to lose their jobs." - This is what an X user said and currently, this is the situation within the tech industry.
