Average Salary of an Orthopaedic Surgeon in Nigeria

Orthopaedic surgeons work in different hospitals in Nigeria which means that there may not be a uniform salary depending on the payment policy of individual hospitals, the work experience, work location, skills, and expertise of the orthopedic surgeon. An orthopedic surgeon who works in a hospital on Lagos Island may earn more than someone who practices in a hospital on the mainland. The same thing applies to experience; most hospitals may have surgeons with more experience and will pay them higher salaries than those with little experience. Also, some orthopedic surgeons are not fixed to a particular hospital, they work as freelance surgeons and are hired by hospitals that do not have Orthopaedic surgeons or hospitals that need a more competent person. This person is not paid every month but immediately after the job is done which also explains why the salary of orthopaedic surgeons is not the same across the board.

How much salary does an Orthopaedic Surgeon take home? 

According to salaryexplorer, the average salary of an orthopedic surgeon in Nigeria is NGN1,460,000 per month. However, the salary ranges from NGN 774,000 to NGN 2,200,000 monthly. Salaryexplorer indicated that these salaries are before tax deduction and may differ across different organizations and locations after tax has been removed.
