Total Energies Nigeria, also known as Total Nigeria is an oil and gas company that is focused on gas exploration and production, and also natural gas liquefaction. The company was founded in June 1956 and incorporated into the Nigerian stock exchange in 1979. Over the years, it has led several community outreach initiatives while also producing oil and gas for these communities.

Early Days

• Total created Total Oil Products Nigeria and began the construction of a warehouse in Lagos - 1956

• Total led the rehabilitation of the Kaduna refinery - 1998

• TotalFinaElf discovered Akpo and launched the Amenam/Kpono project - 2000

• Total discovered the Bonga South West deposit - 2001

• Total discovered hydrocarbons in the western area of the Usan deposit, under the OPL 222 Deep Water Exploration Licence - 2004
