OpenAI welcomes applications for its Startup Fund worth $15 million

Open AI, a global artificial intelligence company and the brain behind the popular ChatGpt has announced that eligible individuals/businesses can now apply for the second round of its six-week AI startup program, Converge 2. Successful applicants among the 15 chosen participants will each receive an investment of $1 million from OpenAI.

The AI company shared that the opportunity, accessible to individuals from any global location, plans to attract outstanding engineers, designers, researchers, and product developers utilizing AI to revolutionize the future. The establishment of the OpenAI Startup Fund is coming from a conviction that emerging robust AI systems will pave the way for a fresh wave of groundbreaking startups with transformative potential.

According to a statement published by the CEO of OpenAI, Sam Altman, Converge was launched in December 2022 "to accelerate startups working on the forefront of this evolution, doing their part to help push the boundaries of applied AI in important domains."

The statement also revealed that the program will run for six weeks, from Monday, March 11, 2024, to Friday, April 19, 2024 - approximately 4 - 6 hours per week. The initial and final weeks of the program happen in San Francisco, and all travel expenses for these specific weeks will be handled. While the remaining weeks can be conducted from a distance, the CEO strongly recommends participants attend in person.

Converge 2 with OpenAI - What is in it for you? 

Participants in the program will be given a $1 million investment from the OpenAI Startup Fund. Also, they'll gain early access to OpenAI models and specially designed programming for AI companies. Converge will provide workshops, office hours, and events where experts from the OpenAI team and others will guide participants on how to handle the changes and possibilities in the quickly changing AI field. Furthermore, participants will become part of a community of fellow founders exploring and creating in this new area of technology.
