The popular Paul J. Meyer said "Productivity is never an accident. It is always the result of a commitment to excellence, intelligent planning, and focused effort." Hence, if every bit of commitment makes up productivity, then it must be channeled the right way. Leaving your bed every morning to give it your best shot is great. However, you need to ask yourself if it is being done rightly. Are you stretching yourself? Are you just showing up to do your work even when you are not happy? Are you burning out and caring less about it? While it is easy to not bother because "you are actually getting the job done," you need to know when it's taking the wrong route.
Being "all the time" productive will always be a great idea but what doesn't seem to sound cool is if you are losing yourself in the process. You don't want to do this? We don't think you should too. So, we have compiled a couple of plans that can help you channel your productivity right. Read on.
Productive Energy? Are there unproductive ones?
Yes. Your energy can be unproductive and you may not even see it. Have you ever experienced anxiety so much that you start to get things done such that you can distract yourself from whatever is making you anxious? Of course, you are doing a thing or two but your energy at that time is drawn from your anxiety not because you want to get the task done.
Another instance is chatting away with a friend when you clearly shouldn't be doing that, exerting so much energy to contribute to the conversation, and tossing away so much time that could have been spent on better things that could possibly yield better results. So, of course, you are being committed to a moment, a person, or even a task, the problem is that "it is for the wrong reason."If you don't know, maybe you start to place a check on what you are spending your energy on and this is the way to start channeling it towards an even better cause.
But, my energy is mine!
It is easier to turn the ball close to ourselves and do whatever we feel like with it because, at that moment, "it's ours" This is why, most times we don't bother if it suits certain goals or purposes. Your energy can be yours but it is more fulfilling to own it when it is being expended on the right tasks. This includes making sure that it contributes to your personal growth and development and all other spheres that put you out there. No one will be bothered about how much energy you have spent if there are no results to show for it if you have not pulled larger feats.
Put your productive energy to use rightly. How?
If you have not tried out these things, then, maybe you're missing out on how exactly your productive energy should work for you. This time, don't snooze!
Focus on what you can control
There is a popular saying that it is more profitable to not worry over the things you have no control over. This is because, regardless of how much energy you spend worrying over them, it would not hand over the control baton to you. Therefore, it is much better to only concentrate on whatever it is you can control which may include your mindset, strategy, and your execution style. Taking a break from external factors that don't help exert energy on making positive decisions that are capable of helping you manage your stress and also hitting your goals right in the head.
Put in the right attitude and effort
Whatever is doing is what doing well. If you have found the right path to channel your energy towards. Give it everything it takes. If you are looking to join a 30-day newsletter challenge, for the 30 days, be in your creative mood, show up for these things that matter to you, and put in the required effort. However, identify that the cause to which you are sending in so much energy is the right one before throwing in all of your "goods". You only need to give it a little more time, maybe " the 30th day of writing" to see how well you have done for yourself. Yes, you have given it your all and it is yielding a rich and meaningful result.
Purge yourself of unnecessary social media takes
A significant fraction of the world uses social media now. While different platforms identify as "social media", there is a popular one that allows everybody to voice their opinions - Twitter. Every day, when you log on to the application, there are takes roaming the streets of the app on what you should do, what you can do, what you can't do, and what you should not be doing. These opinions come in from time to time and the more you open your application, the more wrong content you consume. This technically means that if you spend too much time on social media and do not filter the opinions you ingest, of course, you have used some energy, maybe not rightly. Filter whatever you are taking away from social media and purge yourself of the irrelevant information you already have.
Soak yourself in only the right and true mentality
There are only two ways to do a thing - the right way and the wrong way. Also, this explains that " thinking" Is in two phases, the right and the wrong. Multiple valid approaches may sometimes do it but it is very much better to aim the right way. Explore various forms of possibilities and solutions but be sure that there is some type of validity to it. If you have to make a decision, be certain that it is backed by facts.
Breathe and do some form of gratitude
One of the reasons people go about worrying a lot is because they have failed to see the times that things worked perfectly for them. Cut yourself a bit of slack and shift your focus away from the things that cause you to worry. To fill this time, put the same energy into identifying your big moments and acknowledging them. Remind yourself that, at some point, the journey has moved well for you, and fussing over a couple of inconveniences is not what you should be pushing at. If you have had it smooth sometime ago, it can happen again. However, in the meantime, practice gratitude.
Create quality actionable plans
Don't create plans that you are not able to get to right away! Also, make sure that they are quality ones that are specific, measurable, achievable, and time-bound. While you get in your "wanting to be productive" mode and draft out all of the plans that you've had, and of course, make sense to you, be sure about committing to them. If at any point you begin to get overwhelmed, there is no perfect answer for "trying", so, re-strategize and focus only on the ones that will make the most glaring and significant impact.
Look on to the brighter side, always
Regardless of whatever the situation says, protect your energy, adopt optimistic perspectives, yet find potential benefits and hopeful solutions. Don't turn off the light and drain off your energy when things don't look like it. Find the silver lining, maintain hope, and see what can come out of it for you. Always and everyday, we are rooting for you!
