As a new set of potential JAMB candidates emerge for the next academic year, some questions will influence their decision, including the "school fee".
There has recently been a huge leap in the amount paid by students in the federal universities in Nigeria. A few years ago, these students paid lesser amounts compared to those in private and state universities. It's safe to say that the economy didn't get any better.
Many Federal Universities only requested tuition fees of less than N25,000 per session in the last 4-5 years and maybe a little closer to N50,000 for students who are resuming to the university newly - The ones called the Freshers.
Now, with the reports flying around and memos being released by these schools, students in the federal universities have begun to pay from N60,000 - N200,000 and even more.

Federal University of Agriculture, Abeokuta - N60,000 - N164,000 (depending on level and department)
University of Lagos - N100,000 - N210,000 (depending on level and department)
Federal University, Oye-Ekiti - N50,000 - N102,000
Federal University of Technology, Akure - N45,000 - N127,000
University of Portharcourt - N45,340 - N147,000
University of Calabar - N91,000 - 150,000
Michael Okpara University - N90,000 - N165,000
Nnamdi Azikiwe University + N70,000 - N150,000
University of Ilorin - N50,000 - N215,000
University of Abuja - N60,000 - N100,000
University of Uyo - N55,000 - N110,000
University of Jos - N160,000 - N213,000
Federal University, Otuoke - N57,500 - N106,000
For many federal universities now, the range will most likely fall into the range of the ones listed above but we didn't list them because the school fee is still being deliberated upon. Although some federal universities still pay below N60,000, with the way things are with the economy, no one can exactly say if a change will happen soonest. So, again, If you are looking to gain admission into a federal university this year, save close to N200,000 or more (if you can).
