Globacom, popularly known as "GLO" is a Nigerian telecommunications company founded in 2003 by Mike Adenuga. The brand works as one of the largest mobile operators in Nigeria and also has a valid presence in several countries in the world.
In the beginning
Globacom created magic in 2005 when it launched a vehicle tracking solution (Glo Fleet Manager) to help fleet operators navigate and manage their fleet. In the same year, the Glo internet service came to life, providing subscribers with full access to the internet with the use of their smartphones.
Fast forward to 2006, Glo initiated its first project; the organization sponsored the Confederation of African Football African Player of the Year Award and also introduced BlackBerry.
Glo took off in Benin in 2008, and within the first 10 days of operation, more than 600,000 sim cards were sold; It was in the same year the company acquired its operating license. In 2009, the Blackberry prepaid service and 3G high-speed internet were launched, also Glo obtained the submarine cable landing rights and international gateway services in Ghana. Over the years, Glo has continued to serve its customers, execute great projects, and support its community.
