FG partners with WEMA bank to train SMEs on Digital Skills 

With the look of things, moving forward, every business owner needs to possess some digital skills to help their business thrive amidst competition.

The federal government recognized this need and decided to collaborate with WEMA Bank to begin virtual training in the FGN/ALAT Digital Skillnovation Programme for small and medium enterprises. The program launched earlier in September 2023 and has observed a significant level of enthusiasm from hundreds of thousands of entrepreneurs, potential entrepreneurs, employed professionals, and other individuals who are looking to develop their digital skills and business management skills. 

Per a statement released by FG, the FGN/ALAT Digital Skillnovation Programme for MSMEs intends to educate 2 million Nigerian youth and 1 million Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises in a broad spectrum of digital skills. The skill set highlighted in this statement comprises software engineering, product management, business analysis, cloud computing, product design, and additional competencies.

Furthermore, it was stated that The FGN/ALAT Digital Skillnovation Programme applicants can expect a comprehensive experience, not limited to virtual training, as they will receive practical, hands-on training at advanced digital centers strategically positioned across the country. 

According to Moruf Oseni, the Managing Director/Chief Executive Officer of Wema Bank, there are 270,000 participants ready for the 1st cohort. He also stated that he hopes every one of them can hold on to a substantial impact at the end of the program.
