While it's important to tailor your resume to match the job requirements and showcase your relevant skills, no universal sample can work for all job types because the roles and skills differ. However, there is a structure that can be used by all and it is the best one. It serves as a foundation and can be customized to fit different positions and industries.
The best resume sample for you!
Whether you are a Quality Assurance analyst, a front-end developer, or a front-desk officer, you can use this sample structure to create your resume in little or no time. The rule is that you must pay attention to each section of the resume sample to be sure that you are communicating the right information and that it resonates with the job requirements. Any job role or position can follow the sample structure below:
Header/Title
Full name (E.g Omolola Adelakun)
Contact Information (Phone number, E-mail address, Residential address)
Summary or Objective
This section briefly explains your skills, qualifications experience, and possibly, your career goals. For example, You can say "I am a seasoned customer care representative with 8 years of experience. I have a great knowledge of engaging with customers and offering them the best solutions to their problems. I am seeking a senior customer service representative role and would appreciate an opportunity to work for your company."
Work Experience
Highlight all work experience you've had, including the previous and current one in reverse chronological order (i.e. starting with the most recent one). Also, include the company name, job title, employment dates, and the activities you performed at each job.
Education
List relevant educational background, starting with the most recent one. If you are looking for a receptionist job, you must have studied a course related to office management, or business administration. Include the name of the institution, degree bagged, course of study, and date of graduation.
Skills
Every section of your resume is important but this is even more important. In this section, carefully make a list of relevant skills that you have. Note that these skills must resonate with the job requirements and certain keywords. Both technical and soft skills are essential, so, do not leave out any.
Certifications
If you have taken any relevant certification course or were awarded a certificate after training related to your career field. Include them in this section of your resume.
Achievements/Projects
It will impress your potential employer to see that you have done something spectacular, so do not leave it out of your resume. If you are a product designer, you can say "I redesigned a travel app and accounted for 300 new users in one month."
Extras (Languages, interests, publications)
You may choose to include this or not. However, if you think it is in any way relevant to the job you are applying to, go for it. You may want to include some publications if you are a writer or researcher. Also, if you are looking to land the role of a (Teacher) native speaker, highlighting the languages you speak in your resume is an added advantage.
This is the best and simplest sample to use for your resume; however, while you use this sample, consider your skills and what the job requires so that you don't miss out on the relevant information that will present you as an ideal candidate to your potential employer.
