Microsoft Owned LinkedIn Lay off Employees among the Recruitment Team

Layoff among tech companies since 2022 has found its way into the Microsoft-owned company LinkedIn. The employment social media platform is said to have fired its employees from the recruitment department. Remember that Microsoft made a decision to lay off 10,000 employees, and the decision has made its way into LinkedIn and Microsoft's Cloud Services Sales Department.

Why did LinkedIn lay off its staff?

Social media and employment organization LinkedIn is now in the news of the latest Layoff among the tech giants. The reason for the dismissal is because of the decision made by Microsoft to lay off thousands of employees. Also, reports have it that Microsoft shut down its industrial Metaverse Core Team it created some months ago, which resulted in the layoffs of 100 individuals.

LinkedIn layoffs surprised much staff because there was no sign of dismissal in the company. Indeed, they would not also see that coming because of the words of LinkedIn's CEO that they are not going to lay off anyone. It is worth noting that there was no official statement from LinkedIn about this mass Layoff, and we still await that.

More on Microsoft

Remember Microsoft, through the CEO, Satya Nadella talked about the decision to lay off 5% of the company's workforce. He didn't talk about the department affected when he sent the memo to his staff, but this Layoff has been seen all over the owned organization by Microsoft. The tech giant's decision to cut jobs affected GitHub last week, as 10% of the workforce was laid off.

With about 3,000 employees in the organization, approximately 300 individuals were sent off. The hiring freeze at GitHub continued alongside the decision to make the workforce work remotely to help the organization save more. Additionally, a report has it that Microsoft's layoff wave has reached its company's Seattle office, which has 600 staff that have gotten their pink slips.

The words of Microsoft CEO

The words of Microsoft CEO Satya Nadella about his layoff decisions can be read below:

"We will align our cost structure with our revenue and where we see customer demand. Today, we are making changes that will reduce our overall employees by 10,000 jobs through the end of FY23 Q3. This represents less than 5 percent of our total employee base," Microsoft CEO Satya Nadella said.

Nadella also talked about how the company will continue to hire employees in critical strategic places.

"We are committed to ensuring all employees whose positions are eliminated have our full support during these transitions," he said. Additionally, US-benefit-eligible employees will receive benefits, including above-market severance pay and healthcare coverage for six months, and also bestow with six-month stock awards. Also, career transition services and 60 days' notice before termination, regardless of whether such information is legally required.

Final words on LinkedIn Layoff

LinkedIn Layoff

As of November 2022, LinkedIn Chief Executive Officer Ryan Roslansky told CNBC-TV18 they have no plans to lay off any staff. Instead, they would implement a hiring freeze in some company areas. This is 2023, and the decision made by the owner to affect 10,000 has reached LinkedIn. Under this decision made by Microsoft, GitHub, Metaverse, and Azure were also affected.

These tech layoffs at Microsoft-owned LinkedIn and even the parent company add to the existing list of tech companies engaging in mass layoffs. We have reported about different mass layoffs from other tech giants, which presumably started from Twitter; also, Amazon's decisions affected 18,000 employees, Google's layoffs affected 12,000 employees, and LinkedIn has made a name among the layoffs in the tech industries.
