Meta has remained in the news for some time, due to their massive layoffs of staff. Last year, we reported to you that the tech giant company sacked about 13% of its workforce which is about 11,000 workers. At the moment it has been reported that Mark Zuckerberg has hinted at reducing his staff in the near future.
The Facebook CEO gave this hint at an indoor meeting, as he is gearing up for another round of layoffs. Also, we understand from the report that, the structure of the company needs to be flattened.
Meta Layoffs: Why is Mark Zuckerberg planning another layoff of workers?
The CEO gave this hint, during an internal question-and-answer meeting last week. He said, "I am not a fan of managers forming larger teams, and I don't think I want a management structure, that just involves managers managing managers, managing managers, managing the people who are meant to do the work".
The report also made us understand that Zuckerberg believes that having numerous layers of management is a big waste of resources, adding that managers who have a large team should not be compensated.
Early in January, Meta's Chief Product Officer, Chris Cox, said in one of his newsletters through the company's communication workplace, that there's a big possibility of flattening the organizational structure of the company. The newsletter ended with the employees should be prepared, as there are upcoming job cuts in the near future.
More on Mark Zuckerberg and Tech Layoffs

The CEO also talked about the advancement of AI tools, to help engineers and non-engineers with some coding over time. If they finally lay off more staff, that will be their second in the last 18 years after the one that occurred last year. Do not forget that asides from the layoff that happened last year, Meta said it will extend its hiring freeze into the first quarter.
Let us bring to your remembrance that, the fastest-growing microblogging platform Twitter headed by Elon Musk also fired some of its staff. The layoff saw more than 50% of workers fired by Twitter. Other tech giants in the layoff news are Amazon, HP Inc., and Spotify among many others.
Final words on New Meta Layoffs by Mark Zuckerberg
We can say that we are seeing new reasons why these tech giants are considering more layoffs. Meta Layoffs from last year were because of the pandemic, where they made a lot of changes to the company. But now, the hinted layoff is looming because Mark Zuckerberg doesn't like the kind of structure in his company.
We hope this won't also quicken some CEO to think of laying off more of their staff. You can read some of the layoff news from the tech giants here.
