Job Title: Skincare Formulator

Location: Lagos

Job Summary

  • The Biochemist will play a pivotal role in the company’s new skincare division, responsible for researching, developing, and testing skincare formulations.
  • This position requires a deep understanding of biochemistry, particularly as it pertains to cosmetic and skincare applications, and involves close collaboration with product development and marketing teams to ensure the efficacy, safety, and regulatory compliance of all products.

Key Responsibilities

  • Formulation Development: Research and develop new skincare products, focusing on safe and effective ingredients suitable for different skin types.
  • Testing and Analysis: Conduct in-depth laboratory tests on raw materials and formulations to ensure quality, stability, and compatibility.
  • Regulatory Compliance: Ensure products meet all regulatory standards and guidelines for cosmetic products, including documentation for approvals.
  • Research: Stay updated with the latest developments in cosmetic science, emerging skincare trends, and new ingredients.
  • Quality Control: Collaborate with quality assurance teams to ensure high standards of quality and safety in every production batch.
  • Collaboration: Work with cross-functional teams, including marketing and design, to create product descriptions, usage guidelines, and labelling information.
  • Documentation: Maintain accurate records of research, testing processes, and product specifications for quality and regulatory audits.

Requirements

  • B.Sc or M.Sc in Biochemistry, Chemistry, Cosmetic Science, or related field.
  • 4+ years in cosmetic formulation, preferably in skincare product development is a MUST.
  • Strong analytical and research skills, attention to detail, and proficiency in lab equipment and analytical software.
  • Familiarity with cosmetic regulations in Nigeria and internationally, along with an understanding of natural and synthetic ingredients used in skincare.
  • Familiarity with trends in skin health and anti-aging ingredients.
  • Good understanding of the Nigerian market for skincare products.

Salary
N300,000 - N350,000 Monthly.
