Medical Laboratory Technician


Job Description

Responsibilities:

  • Supporting/Assisting the Medical Laboratory Scientists in all areas of medical laboratory investigations and in all disciplines of medical laboratory science (i.e Haematology, Blood transfusion, Microbiology, Cytology, Chemical Pathology etc)
  • Involving in troubleshooting and maintenance of equipment, devices and other appliances being used in the laboratory.
  • Assisting in phlebotomy services, within the laboratory and outside the laboratory (where needed), after adequate training
  • Assisting in the preparation of culture media and another laboratory reagent, as directed by the Medical Laboratory Scientists or/the Medical Laboratory Director
  • Other professional duties, as may be directed by the Medical Laboratory Director and Managers.


Requirements:

  • Minimum academic qualification- Diploma in Medical Laboratory Science (Technician), awarded by the Medical Laboratory Science Council of Nigeria (MLSCN) in collaboration with an accredited School of Health Technology or other relevant academic institutes. 
  • Work Experience - Minimum of 3 years of work experience in accredited Medical Laboratories.
  • Licence to Practice - Current (2024) Medical Laboratory Technician licence, issued by MLSCN is compulsory.
  • Excellent organisational and communication skills
  • Teamwork and ability to adhere to detailed instructions


Temporal Accommodation:
