St. Francis Catholic Secondary School (SFCSS), Idimu, is a Catholic school run by the North-West African Province of the Society of Jesus. It wasfounded in 1990 by a Jesuit priest, Fr.Francis Cusimano, S.J. the first set of students arrived in January 1991.St. Francis Catholic Secondary School runs the Junior Secondary School and Senior Secondary School Programmes as specified in the Nigerian National Policy on Education. It offers a wide variety of academic subjects taught by a dedicated and qualified staff.
We are recruiting to fill the position below:
Job Title: English Teacher
Location: Idimu, Lagos
Employment Type: Full-time
Responsibilities
- Instruct students about the structure and content of the English language.
- Emphasize the rules of composition, grammar and sentence construction.
- Teach students the correct pronunciation of words.
- Teach students to think critically when studying literature and poetry.
- Plan and prepare lesson plans that meet core objectives and principles and are in line with the curriculum goals.
- Deliver lessons using a variety of differentiated instructional techniques that are appropriate to the academic level and meet the diverse needs of students.
- Develop students' verbal skills including reading out loud, discussion and debate.
- Develop students' writing skills.
- Monitor performance and progress and modify instructional methods to meet individual needs where necessary.
- Maintain accurate and complete student records including attendance, grades, assessments and test scores.
Requirements
- B.A. / B.Ed / PGDE English or related course
- Proven experience as an English Teacher
- Knowledge of teaching styles is recommended
- Excellent interpersonal skills, as well as written and verbal communication skills.
