About the Project
- Project: Validating Insights and Capturing Media for Vaginal Insertable Products in Lagos and Kano States, Nigeria
- The Design for Health Practice at CcHUB is working on a project focused on investigating the use and perceptions of contraceptive products among women of reproductive age in Lagos and Kano states, Nigeria.
- Specifically, the project aims to; validate existing insights on vaginal insertable products in Nigeria; gather additional data on user needs, preferences, and challenges; collect multimedia content (audio recordings and photos) to enhance storytelling and refine insights and tag data on a designated platform for use in future storytelling.
Job Purpose
- The Data Transcriber will play a crucial role in the research phase of the project by ensuring the accurate transcription, tagging, and organization of data collected through interviews, focus group discussions, and multimedia recordings.
- This role requires attention to detail, strong organizational skills, and a commitment to confidentiality and data integrity.
Duties and Responsibilities
Data Transcription:
- Accurately transcribe audio recordings of interviews, focus group discussions, and other field data into written text.
- Ensure all transcriptions are complete, error-free, and formatted according to project guidelines.
Data Tagging and Organization:
- Tag transcribed content with relevant metadata to enable easy categorization and retrieval.
- Input data into designated platforms or databases with proper labelling.
Quality Assurance:
- Review and cross-check transcriptions to ensure consistency and accuracy.
- Flag and resolve discrepancies in data with the research team.
Confidentiality and Data Security:
- Maintain strict confidentiality of sensitive participant information.
- Adhere to the project’s data protection and privacy policies.
Collaboration:
- Work closely with researchers and the multimedia team to understand project requirements.
- Provide support in refining data outputs for storytelling and insights development.
Requirements
Educational Qualification:
- Minimum of a Diploma or Degree in Public Health, Linguistics, Communications, Social Sciences, or related fields.
Experience:
- Prior experience in transcription, data entry, or related tasks.
- Familiarity with transcription tools and software is a plus.
Skills:
- Excellent listening and typing skills with high accuracy.
- Proficiency in English and at least one major Nigerian language (Hausa preferred for Kano-based roles).
- Strong organizational and time-management abilities.
- Familiarity with tagging and metadata systems is an advantage.
