We are recruiting to fill the position below:

Job Title: Assistant Chef

Location: Lekki, Lagos
Employment Type: Full-time
Work Hours: 6–7-hour shifts within the lounge's operational hours (12 PM–2 AM)

Job Summary

  • The Assistant Chef plays a vital role in supporting the Head Chef in preparing high-quality dishes while maintaining the highest standards of food safety and hygiene.
  • This position requires culinary skills, creativity, and the ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced kitchen environment. The ideal candidate is passionate about food and has the flexibility to adapt to a dynamic menu.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assist the Head Chef in preparing ingredients, cooking, and plating dishes to ensure timely service.
  • Follow recipes accurately and contribute to menu development by suggesting creative ideas.
  • Ensure portion control and consistency in food presentation.
  • Maintain cleanliness and organization in the kitchen, including workstations, utensils, and equipment.
  • Assist in monitoring and managing inventory levels, including ordering and storing supplies.
  • Ensure food storage and preparation areas comply with health and safety regulations.
  • Coordinate with the Head Chef and kitchen assistants to ensure smooth operations during service.
  • Provide guidance and support to junior staff as needed.
  • Communicate effectively to address any kitchen challenges promptly.
  • Adhere to food safety and hygiene standards to ensure compliance with local regulations.
  • Regularly inspect ingredients and finished dishes for quality, freshness, and taste.

Requirements

  • OND / HND qualification
  • 2 - 4 years of experience as an Assistant Chef or in a similar culinary role.
  • Proficiency in various cooking techniques and styles.
  • Strong knowledge of food safety and sanitation practices.
  • Ability to work effectively under pressure in a fast-paced environment.
  • Good organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Availability to work flexible shifts, including evenings, weekends, and holidays.
