Unfortunately, many of such youths lack the capital and necessary training to start up their own businesses. This is why the Basic Entrepreneurship and Skill Training Program (BEST) was launched.

The program aims to provide unemployed youths with access to skill acquisition training, and start-up capital, and guide them to launch a successful business. The training program lasts for 6 months and aims to provide paid training and job placements to about 774,000 unemployed youths. The BEST program offers training for a wide range of creative craft skills, as well as certificate-based handwork. The available training areas include:

Where does the BEST program hold?

The training holds in technical and vocational centers worldwide. It is neither restricted by state nor community. If you register to participate in the BEST program, you can attend training sessions at the technical and Vocational center in your area that is affiliated with the Basic Entrepreneurship and Skills Training Program.

Is the training free?

Participants of the Basic Entrepreneurship Training program are granted free access to all available skill acquisition training sessions for the duration of the program. The best part? All selected participants are placed on a 30,000 naira allowance which is to be paid monthly for the entire 6 months of the program.

Who are the sponsors of this program?

The Basic Entrepreneurship Skill Training program is benevolently sponsored by the Financing Businesses for Job and Wealth Creation of the Federal Republic of Nigeria and Intuit Financing Inc. (FBJWC).

Who is eligible to apply for the program?

All young unemployed people between the ages of 18 and 35, who are citizens of, and residents in Nigeria are eligible to apply for this training. All applicants are expected to already be within the age bracket by the date of commencement of the program.

Where can interested youths apply?

The portal for submission of applications is Application commences in December, however, the portal stays open till January. Although the application for the 2022/2023 set starts this year, the training itself commences next year.
