How To Write Application For A Security Job In Nigeria

Security guard jobs are one of the most readily available jobs in Nigeria. However, you can apply for security guard job openings or via a corporate security guard agency.

There are numerous private security companies in Nigeria that hire and train security guards and then deploy them to where they would work. It should be noted that it is easier to get a security guard role in Nigeria when you enroll with a private security company as these companies have an existing clientele base already. They just recruit, train, and deploy.

Let’s have a look at what a security guard does.

In the event of a crisis, a Security Guard or Security Officer is responsible for protecting a person, organization, or asset.

They are responsible for keeping an eye on a specified area, evicting trespassers, and producing reports outlining any incidents that occur during their shift.

A Security Guard’s main responsibility is to keep a company’s property, employees, and visitors safe.

Some of their common daily responsibilities, which you may put in a job description, are as follows:

  • Patrolling and monitoring activities on the company’s premises regularly to discourage criminals and ensure the environment is safe and secure
  • Evicting trespassers and violators and detaining perpetrators while following legal protocols before relevant authorities arrive to take over
  • Controlling the entrance and departure of employees, visitors, and vehicles according to protocols
  • Monitoring surveillance cameras to watch out for any disruptions or unlawful activities
  • Providing detailed reports on daily activities and any incidents that may have occurred to management
  • Testing security systems and, if needed, operating X-ray machines and metal detectors
  • Using provided communication devices such as two-way radios in a clear and concise manner
  • Performing CPR or first aid when needed

People, property, and valuables are often protected by security guards hired by private individuals or businesses.

Their daily responsibilities vary according to their employer’s needs, but they’re frequently asked to physically monitor or patrol an area and protect the safety of everyone inside the home or business.

Some Security Guards work in groups, while others work on their own. Security guards might work as freelancers, internal employees, or security business contractors.

Unlike many other professional positions, a Security Guard employment does not require a bachelor’s degree.

Applicants with a high school diploma, diploma, or any other educational qualification will usually be considered by most employers.

Candidates having a certification, a Security Guard License, or security training are usually given priority by employers.

Candidates should also have first-aid and self-defense training.

Employers may seek people with a four-year degree in criminal justice or a similar discipline for higher-level positions.
