How To Become a LagRide Driver

How To Become a Lagride Driver

The Lagos State government led by Babajide Sanwo-Olu recently unveiled the state’s E-hailing platform named Lagride which is aimed to create jobs as well as impact the state’s transportation infrastructure positively. The Lagos Ride program is anticipated to compete with popular e-hailing services like Uber and Bolt and create thousands of driving jobs.

When the state government inked an arrangement with a Chinese company, Choice International Group (CIG) Motors Co. Limited, to assemble and distribute 1,000 Sport Utility Vehicles (SUVs) as taxis for Lagos citizens, the concept of the Lagos State Taxi Scheme was first made public.

All You Need To Know About The Lag Ride Scheme

  • The ride-hailing initiative, which is a secure, comfortable, and updated taxi service, is run on a lease-to-own basis and is a part of the State Government’s multi-modal transportation plan being carried out under the THEMES agenda of the Sanwo-Olu administration’s Traffic Management and Transportation pillar.
  • After payment is done in full within three to four years, Lagos Ride will grant the driver/operator the ability to own the vehicle.
  • Drivers who want to participate in the program must put down a deposit of around N1.9 million, which covers the vehicle’s 20% equity, registration, insurance, one month’s worth of dashcam rent in advance, a first aid kit, a LASG E-Taxi license, and soft skill training.
  • The scheme’s cars all have technologically advanced security systems that keep track of every voyage.
  • A comprehensive security system, including a 360-degree dashboard camera that would provide 24-hour audio-visual feeds to the control center, had been pre-installed on each car deployed for the program to increase riders’ and passengers’ security.
  • Each automobile included a physical panic button that anyone on board might press in the event of an attack or an emergency.
  • The panic button is connected to the Control and Command Center and is also present on the mobile application, according to the Governor.
  • All trip payments must be made electronically using the Lagos Ride platform.
  • If a rider is carrying actual cash, you must add the driver’s wallet with the appropriate amount of money.

Car Ownership And Repayment Plan For Drivers

  • The vehicles assigned to drivers will continue to be Ibile Holdings’ property up until the whole amount is paid; at that point, the title and ownership will fully pass to the driver.
  • For the first two years, the drivers must pay off their debt with daily tolls.
  • After then, they can settle the loan and cancel the contract.
  • In the first two years, there will be no outright payments honored.
  • The drivers are responsible for performing maintenance and handling any insurance matters; nevertheless, the driver is also in charge of providing the vehicle with gasoline.
  • Drivers must abide by all maintenance servicing dates and requests because failure to do so will result in fines.
  • The driver’s mobile app’s maintenance module should be used to submit any requests for maintenance or grievances regarding the vehicle.
  • The drivers are responsible for paying any costs or damages associated with taking the car to an unapproved repair facility or without giving them enough warning.
  • The driver’s wallet must automatically deduct N8,709 per day as well as 25% for service fees to fulfill the debt obligation.
  • In addition to fares, drivers have various options for funding their wallets to pay off their daily debt.
  • If there isn’t enough money, the driver’s account will be debited and the value subtracted after there are enough funds.
